Dan Almond


Dan Almond recently joined Fusion Futbol Club after several years of playing in the tri-cities.  He has coached both men’s and women’s club teams from U11 up to U17 age groups and is currently JV coach for Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tennessee.  In his first three seasons as JV coach, Almond led the Hill Toppers to 37 wins with only 1 loss.  Prior to joining Fusion FC, Dan graduated with his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from East Tennessee State University in 2005.  He also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Emory and Henry College in 2002.

During his four years at Emory and Henry, Almond set school records in numerous offensive categories, including goals, assists, and points.  He was a starter all four years and served as a Team Captain his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. As a junior and senior, Almond was selected for the Old Dominion Athletic All-Conference Team and as a senior he became the first player ever from Emory and Henry to earn NSCAA All-South honors.  During that 2002 season Almond led the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in eight offensive categories including goals (15), assists (17), and total points (47).

In addition to his playing experience, Almond also holds the state and regional NSCAA Goalkeeping Coaching Diplomas as well as a USSF E coaching certificate.

A native of Bristol, Virginia., Almond continues to play several days a week when he is not working or coaching.  “While I love playing as well as coaching, Jesus Christ is the center of my life and I hope that each time I step on the field my attitude reflects this core value.”

Dan is married to Christy Almond and have been recently blessed with a baby boy, Danny Almond, III.
